Childcare Practitioner- Toddle Inn Shannon
ApplyRate of pay: 12 euro per hour
2 hours required prior to starting to discuss ethos, code of behaviour, covid policy etc
Role and responsibilities:
• To help care for children of various ages from babies to afterschool children.
• To provide a safe, interesting environment where children can learn and grow happily while complying with current Childcare Regulations.
Main duties:
• Provide a loving, relaxed environment, where children can learn, explore, and have fun.
• Respect children and give them the opportunity to learn with other children of their own age, respect that children develop at their own pace and encourage independence while offering help when needed.
• Acknowledge that all children are different and be flexible, change as the needs of each child differs.
• Perform a variety of tasks, such as nappy changing, toileting, sterilizing, feeding, refreshments, sleep supervision, first aid, singing songs, reading stories and engaging in play.
• Maintain room to ensure health and safety of children at all times. Clean, tidy and store toys and equipment after use and ensure good hygiene standards, organize materials and equipment/ toys to the benefit of children.
• Assist in the development of policies and procedures. Attend meetings and undergo training if required. Assist in planning and preparation of child led activities organized from emerging interests of children.
• Perform day-to-day administration record keeping of attendance, care for children throughout the day, take photos of activities to share with parents, record sickness or temperatures and communicate to room leader or management.
• Maintain strict confidentiality, do not talk about children or families outside of work, be professional. Do not talk about children in front of them, be aware of children listening.
• Communicate well with other staff members and management, and to work as a member of the staff team, to share opinions and be open to new ideas from your workmates.
• Be aware of child protection procedures and advise manager should you have any concerns about a child.
